Insecticidal activity of Piper aduncum oil: variation in dillapiole content and chemical and toxicological stability during storage

ABSTRACT The insecticidal effect of the essential oil Piper aduncum (EOPA), and its constituent dillapiole [1-allyl-2,3-dimethoxy-4,5-(methylenedioxy) benzene] in particular, is well documented literature can be associated with interference enzymatic detoxification arthropods. However, no data exist on range content activity, which necessary to establish reliable dose-activity parameters for a formulated product. composition also change during storage after distillation, mainly due environmental factors such as light incidence, atmospheric oxygen temperature, deleterious quality. In this study, EOPA subjected different conditions over four years rectified fractions were submitted bioassays evaluate their by topical contact residual against Spodoptera frugiperda. Our objectives determine relationship between activity EOPA, chemical toxicological properties time under conditions. results showed that was stable respect S. frugiperda years. overall did not vary significantly among ranging 68% 100% greater toxicity larvae.
